It is the final week and everything is about to wrap up.

I finally have a deeper understand about public relations through my internship.

The functions of public relations are varied and there are so many things that we have yet to learned. The term “public relations” is limited and does not reflect all activities recognized in the ever evolving industry. Each industry have their own definition to the term “public relations” as it includes the common elements of media, democracy, commerce, communication and persuasion. In 2009, Zawawi identified that the 3 critical external factors that allow public relations to evolve in Australia: print technology, the depoliticisation of newspaper, and various Education Acts. The growth of public relations in Australia reflects the development of Australian society and its unique history of private and public enterprises (Johnston and Zawawi 2009).

Curtin is a really big industry and easily recognized by many. Therefore many policies and guidelines have been created in order for Curtin to stand out. Curtin itself have many faculty and each faculty has their own policies and guidelines for making any communication platform. For example, each faculty in Curtin has their own distinct color to represent them. There are just many little things to take note of when it comes to company policies.

I guess this is it for me. The end of a chapter and the beginning of another. This internship has definitely showed me a thing or two from what I have learned in Curtin. This is Clement Kwong signing off for the last time.
