When it comes to uni and work, most of us just get through. But when adding an internship into the mix the stress level increases.

Most of us have a crazy timetable. I`m working at my internship one day a week as well as six shifts a week at my jobs including my university timetable. My main tip is to plan your weeks and use a diary to keep dates, times, and locations.

It only the third week and I’m learning that time management is necessary and has led me to be more productive and motivated to succeed. It can feel overwhelming on unit requirement plus other responsibilities, but the key is to:

A. Use a calendar or diary

Having a calendar and a diary with all upcoming events, work schedules and due dates will be handy. Also having this in a written method and technology method such as your phone diary or calendar is helpful.

B. Make a plan

Ensuring you have a plan makes life less stressful. Planning out your week clarifies what tasked you need to complete and what you have on. I organize my life in a diary and a calendar to look at what`s coming up and to plan my week accordingly. Also use a different colour to represent each category to organise work, units, internships, and commitments.

C. Have a routine.

It can be hard to create a routine but have a minor routine can help you be organized. Having a set time to work, study, exercise, sleep and wake up. Can really help keep motivation and feel less stressed and manage your time better.

D. Priorities

When sorting out your calendar remember to priorities tasks to due date and time to complete. Most important tasks first to the minor tasks.

E. Free time – don’t miss a goodnight sleep

Make sure you are getting at least 8hours of sleep. Sleep is an important aspect of productivity. Also, have a half or full day off to relax or treat yourself with a home spa day to chill and feel refreshed.

F. Be motivated

Motivation creates a want and desire to succeed in life. To keep motivated remember to surround yourself with positivity and rewards yourself. As well as to have a social life with friends and family and take a break now and again creates a want to go back to it after.
