My first official piece of work was posted on the West Coast Fever site today, which made me feel pretty excited!

Often my supervisor tells me to basically do a skeleton or template and send it to him, and from their he adds in the depth that I don’t really have because I’ve only been at the club for about a week.

Having knowledge in netball has certainly helped, but it is a whole new level to just high school netball and social netball.

I think my depth around the game, the players and the writing style they aim for will certainly grow the longer I am here and the more I read and write.

For this certain piece, I was given all the information I needed. My supervisor interviewed one of the specialist West Coast Fever coaches and asked me to write a piece on it.

The interview was an hour or so long, so I chose to focus on a certain aspect of it.

I got good feedback from my supervisor and he posted it on their website and put me as the author, which they don’t normally do, so that was exciting for me.

I know that it isn’t always possible to get feedback from your supervisor, but when you do get it, I think you feel really good.

It’s nice to know if you’re actually doing well, otherwise how will you ever know!

Even if the feedback is constructive, it’s good to see how you can improve rather than just sitting there doing the same thing, not knowing if its a good piece of a bad piece.

I feel as intern, you want to help and make an actual impact in the organisation, not just do pieces of work that get changed and go unnoticed.
