Oh my, four weeks has flown by! It is so crazy to think that I am nearly halfway through my 20-day internship already… you know what they say, time flies when you’re having fun!
So, to do a quick recap for all of you, I secured myself an internship with a small PR, Marketing and Copywriting agency called Savvy Creations. Currently I am working alongside the CEO and Director of the company, Sandra Tricoli. She is absolutely brillaint, she is extremely passionate about what she teaches her clients during meetings or workshops as she loves helping people and their businesses succeed.

That is enough about my wonderful supervisor… the real question you are all thinking about is… what have you been doing for the past four weeks?! My first day was very FULL ON. Comparing it to my first day of my marketing internship that I completed for the Business Internship Unit at Department of Education… I WAS THROWN IN THE DEEP END. I was used to creating a social media post at Department of Education and having 3 other people approve it before it was actually posted… not Savvy Creations… I was tasked with the IMMEDIATE posting of Instagram stories during Sandra Tricoli’s 10am social media workshop she was hosting. I took this in my stride and utilised the opportunity to prove to Sandra how skilled I was at utilising social media and creating engaging content. I then used my initiative and created Instagram story highlights and selected corresponding covers for each highlight created. My supervisor was extremely pleased that I identified the need for improvement and solved the problem accordingly. So now you ask what else happened on your first day? I created a mood board for the Savvy Creations Instagram page including various colour schemes and “days of the week” ideas for potential posts for the future. I enjoyed this task as I am a highly creative person who thoroughly enjoys an aesthetically pleasing Instagram page!
The first couple of weeks were pretty intense as I was still adjusting to the fast-paced work environment that Sandra was used to herself. This fast pace however enables me to grow as a person as it forced me to step outside my comfort zone and make decisions myself when needed. I have been highly proactive and decisive since the start of my internship and gained a sense of independence in the posts that I create as Sandra has built her trust in my abilities and skills.
What does a day at savvy creations consist of for me?
- An hour of each day liaising and sending reminders to clients via emails
- Attend Sandra’s social media workshops and post Instagram stories throughout
- Schedule Instagram posts for each day of the week via Hootsuite
- 15 minutes each day interacting with other Instagram accounts: liking/commenting
- Content Creation via Canva for Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram posts
- Create EDMs via mail chimp every second week
- Create blog posts surrounding the EDM topic every second week
I hope you enjoyed reading my first blog post… there is a lot more to come, so stay tuned! Please feel free to leave a comment below. I would love to know all about your experiences within the workplace and if you have had any challenging times thus far?
