Important Tools..

Hours and hours spent watching the beginners video to a platform that was used often at my internship… EventsAir which is a event management platform that provides a unique features into helping organise an event. This platform is a power tool that is helpful where various types of attendee management that includes registration, email marketing and ticketing. This was the main platform I had to use for some of the tasks I had to complete which was entering in data for attendees into different event and conferences.

Production schedule was another task I had to complete. There were 4 production schedule done for different conferences. Similarly to a ‘run sheet’ it was very useful that I had already produced one in PR techniques. The importance of keeping on schedule is highly significant in managing an event! Without relying on them there may be major issues that can occur which can cause complications that may not get resolved quickly. Scheduling social media posts is another main task that I had to do. I have to carefully set up the related details to suit the photo of that particular event.

Till next time!

I didn’t know what to expect?

Thinking back to my first day I really thought of many different scenarios in my head.. like what am I going to be spending my first day doing? Would it be intimating walking into a office full of people? Will I be dress appropriately? In all honestly, my first day wasn’t that bad. Since one of my supervisors was sick with the flu on my very first day the only person that was in the office was a part time employee which was also one of my supervisors. Back then I found this lady very intimidating because I can tell she had a big personality and I didn’t want to cross her in anyway. Luckily there was another intern with me that has been there longer at the time and ensured me that she was nice.

That day I had the privileged of sitting in a meeting at Crown relating to the upcoming ball in 2020. Before the meeting our supervisor gave us the details of what the meeting was about and who the other parties were. She did mention that the event Crown manager was one of her long time friend and that the other was a new contractor that has recently joined. Since she has not met the other contractor before she was worried that he would be difficult to work with. I listened closely to see how liaise with one another. To keep it short I admired how she got her point over to them of what she wanted with the positioning of the lectern and stage with other things that needed changing. There were back and forth eye contact with some tense moments but they all came to a solution that both parties were happy with.

So with this, my first day at my internship, my first meeting with the company … it was actually interesting. I’ve seen first hand that it is beneficial to actually have a good relationship with the other party while during business. It is also very important to know the direction you want to take and compromise in certain situations. I still remember that I admired her so much seeing how she dealt with things in the meeting and how she incorporated associations with their line of work. This I saw kept the vibe in the meeting fun but at the same time down to do business!

Did any of you attend meetings with your supervisor? What did you think?

That is all from me till next time!
