Event management can be done in a big scale or a small one. Nonetheless, its always the taught that counts.
On February 15th (tuesday) was the birthday of Miri Port Authority General Manager, Madam Serawa Budol. My supervisor was having a chat with me on (Monday the eve of her birthday) he mention that our General Manager Birthday falls on a tuesday. He gave me permission to hold a mini birthday celebration for the General Manager. Although it was rather spontaneous, but it is a great decision, because it resembles how our department upholding value of appreciation.

He then instructed me to hold a small meeting, with our colleagues and suggested that each of us to contribute some amount of money to purchase a cake. We manage to collect a reasonable amount of money to buy Her favourite cake which is matcha cheese cake. Sounds exquisite, so is the price!.

Everyone was happy and willing to contribute, and later that day, one of my colleague and I went to the only bakery in town to get the cake and thus we still have some amount of money left, which will be kept as backup in our department infamous “piggy bank”.

This shows that, an event although it is small but the meaning behind it would rather be like saying ‘together everyone achieves more’ which stands for the sense of belonging in the company is very tight kneed. MPA from my observation really does celebrate each employees birthday either individually or in groups depending on how many employees were born on a particular month.

Since, I was in charge of co- organising this birthday celebration, an in public relation context, this small intimate event are aimed at a specific audience of invited guests, i.e. not open to everyone. Therefore, within the private events category of special events, there are also several sub-categories.
Indeed, every experience I cherished deeply.
